Tip If sponges start to smell "off" Rinse them with distilled vinegar and a drop of fabric softener, It will take the mildew smell away. Cut the sponges into uniform rectangles. The size and shape doesn't matter as long as they are all the same. Pair the pieces and with a permanent marker create the exact same pattern on one side of each paired piece. When the sponge tiles are moist, they will stick to the wall of most bathtub surfaces. Place the tiles pattern side down in randomly selected rows. Kids play by turning over two tiles each turn, trying to find the matching pair. Modification for younger kids Larger and fewer sponge tiles work best and make fabulous bath toys even if the child isn't in the mood for playing a game. Modification for older kids Use the pairs to match upper and lowercase letters, or numbers and the number words. Place sight words on the tiles for a fun reading practice.
